Southbourne Repair Café: Don’t Bin It, Fix It!

Southbourne Repair Café. Operating on the first Wednesday of every month

Residents of Southbourne now have a fantastic opportunity to give their broken household items a new lease on life thanks to the newly established Southbourne Repair Café. Operating on the first Wednesday of every month from 10 am to 1 pm at The Hub Community Café on 128 Seabourne Road, this initiative encourages sustainability and community spirit by offering free repair services.

The Repair Café is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who possess a wide range of skills to assess faults, provide labour, and offer valuable advice on how to fix various items. From small appliances and electronics to clothing and furniture, the café aims to reduce waste and promote a repair-oriented culture within the community. While the repair work and advice are offered completely free of charge, attendees are asked to cover the cost of any necessary replacement parts. Donations to support the ongoing efforts of the Repair Café are also gratefully accepted.

Organisers emphasize the drop-in nature of the service, meaning no prior appointments are required. This accessibility makes it easy for anyone in the Southbourne area to bring their broken items and see if they can be salvaged. For those seeking more information, the Southbourne Repair Café can be found on Facebook and Google Maps.

This initiative not only offers a practical solution for broken items but also fosters a sense of community connection and knowledge sharing. By bringing together skilled volunteers and residents with items in need of repair, the Southbourne Repair Café promises to be a valuable asset to the local area, championing the motto: “Don’t Bin It, Fix It!”
